South Australian Regional Committee
Chair and Regional Representative: Karen Parker
2009 – 2019: CVA SA Regional committee - I have been both a committee member, secretary and chairperson of this group during this period.
2011 – 2019: CVA National Board - I was asked to join the Board in 2011 as a co-oped member then in 2014 onwards as the state representative.
2000 – Current: Tarooki Campsite - I was on the management team for twelve years and chaired that team for nine of those years. I have been employed as the Manager of this site for the past 7 years. As the only permanent employee I have a good knowledge of small site operations.
I am a member of several interdenominational Christian organisations in my local community and enjoy my involvement in the wider body of God. I have been a part of the leadership of my own Church for the past 30 years and also a part of the wider Uniting Churches leadership groups during that time.
Secretary: Kelly Smith
Kelly grew up attending camps and spent many years leading on camps. She now finds herself training and supporting camps to implement and use the cloud based camp management software, venue360. Kelly spends her time with campsites all over the world.
She loves being able to encourage and support those in the frontline of Christian Camping, knowing the positive impact it is having both nationally and internationally.
She attends Activate Church and is involved in her local community when she is in Adelaide.
Committee Member: Jim Staude
I have now been involved in Christian camping for 20 years in South Australia, firstly at the Mylor Baptist Camp and now at Adare, Uniting Venues SA. At Adare, I was instrumental in setting up Beyond Limits, our Outdoor Education arm. I have been involved with CVA for South Australia for the past 6 years and presented at Connect18.
Over the years I have seen many changes in our industry and have a deep passion to see our South Australia campsites prosper and spread the Gospel.
I attend, with my wife Erica, the Christies Beach Baptist Church, where we have attended the last nine years.
