SITE ENVIRONMENT: Abundant birds, native animal life and alpine flora. Nine acres adjacent to Alpine National Park and King River. Fabulous bushwalking for all comers. Good fishing in the King River and nearby Lake William Hovell.
DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM Wangaratta: 280 km from Melbourne or 3.5 hours northeast via Mansfield, or Hume Highway to Wangaratta.
ACCOMMODATION: 49 bunk style beds in two lodges - Peipers Lodge sleeps 28 in four rooms, two with ensuites. Winch Lodge sleeps 21 in three rooms.
ADDITIONAL: Crowe Cottage - two bedroom sleeps five, own bathroom and kitchen, ideal for family weekend away in a bush environment.
PROVIDED: Bunks, Mattresses. (Bring own linen, pillow, blankets and towels).
CATERING: Fully catered homestyle cooking with an excellent menu selection. Self catered option is available.
FACILITIES ON SITE: Dining/Meeting area with gas heating, log fire, TV/VCR/DVD, piano, whiteboard, overhead projector, table tennis and PA system. This adjoins a fully equipped commercial kitchen with servery, washup and prep areas.
OUTDOORS: Basketball ring, volleyball net & court, cricket, Gas BBQ, short walk to King River. Large grass areas well treed.
FACILITIES OFF SITE: Whitewater rafting, river sled, canoeing, swimming, sailing, fishing, bushwalking. Powers Lookout, Paradise Falls, Lake William Hovell. An interesting historical area - the home of Ned Kelly's family
PROGRAMMING: Groups are responsible for their own programming, but assistance is available on request. Excellent site for interpersonal, history, nature and environmental programs to fit VELS multiple domain outcomes.
