NSW & ACT Regional Committee
Chair: Nicole Schabort
Nicole has over 2 decades worth of experience working in hotels in management positions both nationally and internationally. She continues to deliver exceptional customer service with others in a team environment.
Nicole was first introduced to Christian camping in 2013; as the Bookings Manager for CRU sites, she has seen the power of God’s love in action in changing young people’s lives.
Nicole attends Haberfield Baptist Church and enjoys connecting with God’s people over zoom or in person to grown in the revelation and knowledge of Him.
Secretary: Sherrie Cocking
Sherrie has worked at The Collaroy Centre for 27 years in administration and mission. The missional camps for single mums, grandparents and kids makes up most of my role and I am so encouraged and excited to see lives change through this ministry.
She has been part of the NSW Committee for about 11 years as a Committee Member, Treasurer and Secretary.
Sherrie is passionate about seeing others come into this ministry so they can impact lives through camping and that is why she enjoy serving NSW on this Committee.
Committee Member: Kevern Bawden
Kevern has also worked as High School Teacher, studied Computer Science at Wollongong University, and has been regularly involved in Church camping events from a young age. He says, ‘It's accurate to say Camping shaped my life significantly.’
He enjoys asking the ‘why do we?’ and ‘what would it look like if...?’ questions, as well as developing plans and seeing them through.
He is married to Erica (High School Teacher), and we have three kids: Noah (11), Rachel (9) and Abigail (6). His youngest Abigail, who had a challenging start to life, is an inspiration to Kevern and a reminder that God will continue to show up in ways that He knows we need and that it is more dangerous to presume failure and not try, than it is to fail whilst trying.
Committee Member: Greg Clark
Greg is responsible for the smooth running and ministry emanating from Camp Kedron. He has been there full time since February 2002, having been on the Board for 20+ years prior to that.
He can’t remember a time when Camp Kedron hasn’t been an important part of his life, as his parents were very involved from day one and were full time at the camp from 1972 to early 1988.
Greg has been married to Sarah for 31 years and they have three children: Caitlin 27, Joshua 26 and Grace 21. Their home church is St Ives Community Church. It has been a wonderful blessing to be involved in this dynamic ministry, seeing God change lives.
Committee Member: Adam Stewart
Adam has been working with Children and young people for more than 20 years through camps and churches. Adam has worked as an outdoor educator, trainer and pastor, and has a passion for communicating the Gospel message in culturally relevant and engaging ways.
Currently working for The Tops Conference Centre in Sydney. Adam leads a team in developing and delivering programs for the campsite. This involves creating environments where the Gospel can be shared, and equipping staff to engage campers and harness transformational moments.
Committee Member: Joshua Roberts
Joshua is responsible for hosting guest groups and overseeing food service at Youthworks Port Hacking as the Guest Relations Coordinator.
He can't think of a moment when Youthworks hasn't been part of his life. Having become a Christian at a church youth camp at Youthworks, he personally knows the impact Christian Camping Ministry can have.
Joshua studied a Diploma of Christian Studies with Youthworks Year 13 and has experience as a Christian Outdoor Educator having completed Youthworks' Outdoor Ministry Traineeship.
When away from ministry, you'll find Joshua hiking trails or drinking coffee (most likely at the same time!).
