Chair: James Norman
James has been a follower of Jesus since 1997.
Since 2006, James has pursued a life of ministry and service. He began as a YWAMer in Townsville, this led him to work as a missionary on Palm Island. From there, a short furlough home in Canada saw him back in Australia and ready to take on the role of Youth Pastor at Swansea Baptist Church, Caves Beach NSW, where he served from Jan 2007 to Dec 2018.
His major focus in that time was on youth discipleship, developing young leaders, youth camps 3-4 times per year, missional outreach, as well as broad connection with Baptist Youth Ministry leaders around NSW and Australia through 3DM Missional Discipleship Training Intensive from 2016 – 2018. During this time, James was School Chaplain at Swansea High School from 2012 to 2018.
From May 2019, James joined the Christian Camping ministry as Manager of Tunnel Ridge Ranch, Sunshine Coast, QLD. He has been a member of the Leadership Team at Rhythm Church, Caloundra, QLD since Sept 2019.
He is still passionate follower of Jesus.
Committee Member: Guy Hawkins
Guy joined the team at Emu Gully Adventure Education Group in 2017.
He has formal qualifications and experience in psychology, Outdoor Education and school chaplaincy. He is an invaluable member of the Emu Gully team.
As Operations Manager, Guy oversees all aspects of operations at Emu Gully, and his expertise in this is highly regarded. In his own words, he is ‘managing the operating of adventure education and the growth of an organisation.’
He has a wealth of experience in training & development, chaplaincy, and program facilitation, all combined with exceptional people skills and a heart for ministry.
Committee Member: Tim Hutton
Tim has a passion for youth, outdoor and camping ministry.
He has trained for work in national parks; has worked for local governments and in private industry; has run sea kayaking and sand boarding tours on, in and around Moreton Bay and has led groups in remote bushwalking/hiking trips and is a Specialist District Director for the South Queensland Conference for Pathfinders.
Tim transferred from Watson Park Convention Centre (north of Brisbane) to head up the team at Camp Somerset which is located in a bush setting on the banks of Lake Somerset.
Tim hopes to continue the site's growth but more importantly, the site's effect on the lives of those who visit, for the enrichment of Christ's Kingdom.
Committee Member: Ellen Kaluat
Since graduating from Nambour Christian College in 2007, Ellen has been pursuing her heart for ministry.
In 2008, she joined Youth With A Mission, Discipleship Training School Vanuatu and began a season of juggling ‘jobs’ while she developed her skills and experience in readiness to serve.
During this time, Ellen was a Scripture Union Beach2Bush Leader, YWAM International Liaison for Love Vanuatu YWAM for International Teams and attended the YWAM Leadership Training School, Sydney Island Breeze. She graduated with a BA in Social Work from Central Queensland University in 2013, and went on to Indigenous Ministry Links Australia, Cross Cultural Studies.
From 2016 to 2020 Ellen, now a mother, taught their two children via Distance Education, while also finding time to work as a Scripture Union Beach2Bush Camp Cook.
Since 2020, Ellen has been the Caretaker/Site Manager Noosa Outdoor Education Centre QCCC.
Committee Member: Dallan Lieschke
Dallan’s enthusiasm and passion for Christian camping continues to grow and he now works at Koojarewon Youth Camp as Site Manager. Dallan has enjoyed serving on the Queensland Regional Committee for the past 4 years and it would be an honour to continue serving Queensland members in this way.
Previously, Dallan was an intern at Warrambui (in NSW) for 1 year and then spent the following 5 years as the Intern Co-ordinator. Afterwards enjoyed working at Luther Heights Youth Camp (at Coolum) for 6 years on the Program and Ministry Team.
He runs activities, co-ordinates groups and teachers, oversees all equipment (including adventure gear), oversees ordering and maintenance. Dallan also led and directed multiple holiday and leadership camps.
