QLD and NT Regional Committee

Nicole Maynes
ACTING CHAIR

Nicole has served on the NSW Committee as Chair from August 2019 to early 2022. She is now part of the QLD Committee.

In these roles, she wants to support members through the sharing of best practices, providing connections to other campsites, and mentoring the younger generation to enable members ministries to grow and flourish for Gods Glory.

Nicole serves on the National Board as a representative for the QLD Committee and uses her experience in the hotel industry, alongside her Christian camping since 2012, to assist members in the growth of their sites. 

Guy Hawkins
COMMITTEE MEMBER

Guy joined Emu Gully Adventure Education Group in 2017. 

As CEO, Guy oversees all aspects of Emu Gully Adventure Education Group. He has worked in the Education/community and camping sector for 20 years.

He has a "get stuff done" personality, willing to go on adventures, discovering, exploring and reflecting.  Always looking for opportunities to partner and work with others.

He has formal qualifications and experience in Psychology, Organisational development and leadership facilitation, Outdoor Education, and Building and site development.
Some people also reckon he is a good bloke...

James Norman
COMMITTEE MEMBER

With 12 years youth ministry experience, chaplaincy experience, and four years in Christian Camping, James has a heart to listen to and be a sounding board for any ministry or faith questions members have.

James loves a good coffee, especially when shared with someone needing an ear … and has been told he has had the occasional wise idea or two.

Consider him a safe ear with no agenda to sound out ideas, ask for prayer, or just encourage you to keep on keeping on.

Ellen Kahluat
COMMITTEE MEMBER

Since 2020 Ellen has been the co-Caretaker of Noosa Outdoor Education Centre, QCCC. She is married and the mother of three primary aged kids.  

Ellen joined the QLD/NT CVA Regional Committee in 2021 and stepped into the role of Chair July 2022.  

She has a Bachelor of Social Work & Community Services. 

Ellen currently attends The Mary Valley Church and was previously worship leader at Yandina Baptist Church between 2019 & 2022 where she was also on the R.A.P Committee. 

From 2017 to 2020 Ellen was a Homeschool and began her part-time study in a Diploma in Theology and Christian Ministry at Vision Colleges. 

As part of her early call to ministry, Ellen was worked and served with YWAM Vanuatu staff from 2006 to 2008 and then a student at the Discipleship Training School & Leadership Training Schools from 2008 to 2010. She also served as Youth & Young Adult Leader, Nambour Baptist Church from 2008 to 2010, with time as a Scripture Union QLD Camp leader in 2008 and again in 2018.
